I will be sharing with you the easiest way to create awesome Pins for free online.
Pinterest Pin Specs
Here are the basic specifications of a standard Pinterest Pin:
File Type = JPEG or PNG
File Size = 10 MB (MAX)
Aspect Ratio = 2:3 (MAX Aspect Ratio) or 1000 x 1500 Pixels
Title = 100 Characters (40 preferably)
Description = 500 Characters
How To Create Pinterest Pins with Canva
Simply visit a website called Canva.
Sign in for a free account if you don’t have one.
Click ‘’Create Design’’ at the upper-right corner of the Canva Home Page.
Type in ‘’Pinterest Pin’’ inside the Search Box.
Click on ‘’Pinterest Pin (1000×1500)’’ as shown in the image below.
From the left side of the screen, click on ‘’See all’’ to view all the templates available.
Although you can have access to more Templates if you are using the paid version of Canva, I still wouldn’t suggest you use any of the Templates or Images on Canva. Why?
Because there are probably many other people who have used the same templates or images for their Pins. By using the same templates and images with others, the Pinterest Algorithm might detect and relate your Pins with other similar templates earlier used on Pinterest. This will affect your rankings on Pinterest. So, I recommend you use or create your own designs or templates. Don’t worry, I will show you how!
Use Stock or Owned Images on Pins
The next step is to minimize Canva and visit a website called Pexels.
Pexels is a website where you can download millions of Royalty-Free Images Online. Pexels remains one of the best royalty-free image and video websites with top notch quality.
You can Sign up for a new account if you don’t have one. It’s totally free!
From the Pexels Home Page, type in the name of any image inside the ‘’Search Box.’’
For this simple illustration, I used the ‘’Pizza Niche’’ as shown in the image below.
Click ‘’Enter’’ to search and you’ll have thousands of images to choose from.
Choose an image from the result and your screen should look like this.
Download the image you choose, as shown in the image above.
So make sure you always download the original copy and NOT the low-quality image. Pinterest prefers high quality images on Pins.
Now go back to Canva
Click on ‘’Uploads’’, as shown in the image below.
Then click on ‘’Upload Media’’ to upload the picture we downloaded from Pexels. See the ‘’Upload Media’’ button in the image below.
After finding and uploading the downloaded image from your computer to Canva, you should find it under ‘’Images’’ in the ‘’Uploads’’ section, as shown in the image below.
From the image above, you can see the arrow pointing at my uploaded Pizza Image.
Click on the image you uploaded and your Pinterest board should look like this.
You can see that the image we uploaded is showing on the board.
Drag and re-adjust the image to full view.
As you can see from the image above, my pizza image has appeared fully on the board.
Inserting Elements and Shapes
Next, check the left side of the screen and click on ‘’Elements’’
You will see several shapes.
I’m going to click and use “Circle’’ for this illustration. See the image below.
Re-adjust your shape to where you want it to be. You can also re-adjust the size by dragging it or even changing the color of the shape.
An arrow in the image below shows you exactly where you can change the color of your shapes.
The image above also shows you how I added more graphics to our design with flowers.

So, let’s add TEXT to our work.
Click on ‘’Text’’ at the left side of the screen.
Choose your text and choose any of the fonts available.
See the image below for my final result.
The arrows in the image above show you where to modify your Text and make it more pleasing to the eye.
After completing the design for our Pin, we can now Download it and Publish on Pinterest.
Here is how to download the Pin.
Simply check the upper-right corner of your Canva screen.
Click on the Download Button (see image below).
At this point, your image (Pin) should begin to download.
This is the final appearance of our Pinterest Pin.
